Start with the ad you need to make. If you already have product footage and want to shape the edit yourself, CapCut is a sensible first shortlist. If generating new visuals is central to the brief, compare InVideo’s available models and credit costs. Both offer editing and AI creation; this is a workflow starting point, not a measured quality ranking.

This comparison uses vendor documentation. We have not run a matched export or advertising-performance test. Some product links are affiliate links: Top10AI may earn a commission if you buy. See our editorial and affiliate policy.

What matters for a 15–30 second ad?

CapCut’s desktop documentation lists captions, aspect-ratio changes, keyframes and AI creation features. Those make it a candidate for turning supplied clips into a vertical edit. They do not establish how fast a beginner will finish, or whether a particular feature is included in your subscription.

InVideo’s pricing page lists timeline editing alongside generative models and plan-specific access. Avoid the old oversimplification that one product only edits and the other only generates. For your ad, decide which task will consume most of the work: selecting and cutting existing clips, or producing missing scenes.

  • You have a product demo: try trimming the same footage, correcting captions and placing one clear call to action in each editor.
  • You only have a brief: evaluate the generation options your plan actually includes, then inspect the output for inaccurate product details.
  • You need many variations: separate a text or timing change from a new generated scene. They may have very different costs.

Pricing: compare the commitment, not just the headline

CapCut says its Pro price varies by region, device and promotion. Check the account and device you will use; a single global price would be misleading.

On September 22, InVideo’s public pricing page displayed Starter at US$20 per seat per month, billed annually, with 400 monthly credits per seat. That displayed annual rate implies US$240 per seat for a year before any checkout adjustments; it is not a US$20 month-to-month commitment. Confirm seats, currency, taxes and the final total before purchase. Plan details can change.

InVideo’s credit guide says generation consumes credits, while downloading or exporting does not. Model, duration and other generation settings affect the charge. Monthly plan credits do not roll over. A quoted number of possible generations is not a promise of that many usable ads.

Commercial use: check the assets inside the ad

CapCut’s legal center says templates and materials explicitly labeled for commercial use can be used commercially. Do not assume that every template or music track has the same permissions.

InVideo’s terms permit commercializing generated outputs, subject to their conditions, third-party rights and applicable licensed-content terms. They also say AI outputs may contain errors and may not be unique. A subscription is not blanket clearance for every asset or a guarantee that an ad platform will accept the result.

Before launch, retain the relevant asset license information and check that the intended advertising placement is covered. For either tool, verify product claims, permissions for recognizable people and the accuracy of generated visuals.

A practical comparison you can run before committing

Use a fictional local coffee shop as a practice brief: a 20-second vertical ad, three supplied product clips, one offer, captions and a final call to action. Keep the script and source assets identical across products.

  1. Build the same sequence and note which steps need premium access.
  2. Correct captions and inspect the crop on a phone-sized preview.
  3. Export a sample and check resolution, watermark, audio and text readability.
  4. Record editing time and any generation charges, including discarded attempts.
  5. Compare cost per usable result with the calculator above. Keep ad performance separate until you have campaign evidence.

This is a suggested evaluation method, not a report of a test conducted by Top10AI. If both products satisfy the brief, prefer the workflow you can repeat reliably within your budget.

Questions before you buy

Which is cheaper for video ads?

There is no verified universal winner. Compare your actual CapCut offer with InVideo’s seat, billing and generation requirements, then include editing time and unusable attempts.

Does exporting use InVideo credits?

Its checked credit guide says exporting and downloading do not consume credits. Creating media and using AI features can. Confirm the current charge shown for your generation settings.

Can I judge the tools from the first generated clip?

A single clip is weak evidence. Use the same brief, retain unsuccessful attempts and inspect the final export before committing to a repeatable workflow.
