Pika AI’s new Pika H3 Flex is trending on X: an open-weight video-and-audio model you can run locally or in ComfyUI. Meanwhile, realistic painting-style clips from ByteDance’s Seedance 2.5 are drawing attention there too. Kling remains the hosted default many creators already pay for. This guide compares all three on the specs and prices each vendor publishes, so you can pick the one that fits your work.

We have not run these models ourselves. Every spec and price below comes from the vendor’s own pages, checked Nov 2, 2026. Where a vendor doesn’t publish something, the table says “not published”.

Quick answer

  • Pick Pika H3 Flex if you want open weights you can run on your own GPU, or a cheap per-second API with separate audio stems. Pika lists a launch API price from $0.01 per second at 480p.
  • Pick Seedance 2.5 if you need longer single takes. ByteDance lists up to 30 seconds per generation with joint audio, and it is available in Dreamina, CapCut and the BytePlus API, with regional limits.
  • Pick Kling if you want a hosted app with a monthly plan, commercial use on paid tiers and 30-second Kling 4.0 generations, without touching an API or a GPU.

What’s new in Pika H3 Flex

Pika describes H3 Flex as a model post-trained on MiniMax H3 and “built for professional iteration” (Pika H3 Flex page; technical write-up, Oct 29, 2026). What Pika and its model card publish:

  • Open weights. Adapter weights are on Hugging Face and the inference code is on GitHub, with ComfyUI and Diffusers workflows.
  • Local vs hosted. Local open-weight inference produces native 480p or 768p video with mixed stereo audio. The 1080p, 2K and 4K upscaling, the audio-stem export and prompt enhancement are features of Pika’s hosted API.
  • Length and format. 5–15 second requests, 24 fps, 11 aspect ratios from 21:9 to 9:21, MP4 output.
  • Native audio. 32 kHz stereo generated with the video, plus separate Dialogue, Music and Effect stems (WAV) via the API, at $0.001 per second.
  • References. Up to 12 reference files per generation (up to 9 images, 3 videos and 3 audio clips).
  • Speed claim. Pika says a 15-second 768p clip can take as little as seven seconds of transformer compute, and states this is a controlled benchmark, not end-to-end API time.

Hardware reality: the model card says the base components take about 210 GB of disk in total, and that representative 480p and 768p runs passed on an H100 80GB GPU. Treat “runs locally” as “runs on a serious workstation or rented GPU”, not on a typical laptop.

Seedance 2.5 in 60 seconds

ByteDance’s Seed team launched Seedance 2.5 on July 31, 2026 (Seed announcement; model page). The key points:

  • Up to 30 seconds of video with audio in one generation, with the option to extend twice.
  • References: up to 30 images, 10 video clips and 10 audio clips in one pass, per the Seed post. Dreamina’s launch page describes up to 50 multimodal references per clip.
  • The BytePlus API page lists 4–30 second outputs at 480p, 720p or 1080p, 24 fps (BytePlus Seedance 2.5).
  • Access is gated. Dreamina’s page says the rollout covers subscriber accounts of people over 16 in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South America. Check your own account before you plan around it.

Kling today

Kling’s current flagship is Kling 4.0. Kling’s own pages (Kling pricing overview and the membership page) list:

  • Native generation up to 30 seconds with Kling 4.0, up to 10 keyframes, and Omni Reference with up to 15 combined assets.
  • Synchronized audio-video generation, listed for Kling 3.0 and 3.0 Omni, with Kling 4.0 marketed for its “Audio-Visual Performance” on the Kling homepage.
  • “1080p/4K Video Generation”, watermark removal and “Generated content is for commercial use” on every paid plan.
  • Paid plans from $6.99 for the first month (Standard), then $8.80/month for 660 credits a month. Kling also offers limited free access for eligible accounts.

Kling’s plan page does not say how many credits a Kling 4.0 clip uses. Run a short test and note the credit cost before you plan a batch. If you’ll finish clips in an editor, our Kling vs CapCut guide covers that hand-off.

Which to pick

Social shorts

Kling or Seedance 2.5. Both list 30-second generations, which covers most Reels and TikTok lengths in one take. Kling is the simpler start if you want a monthly plan with commercial use stated on the plan card. Seedance 2.5 suits creators who already work in CapCut or Dreamina and are in a rollout region. If your shorts are mostly script, stock footage and voiceover rather than generated scenes, InVideo AI (affiliate link) is a different kind of tool worth comparing.

Cinematic

Seedance 2.5 for longer single takes (30 seconds, extendable twice) and heavy reference use. Kling 4.0 if you want keyframes and Omni Reference in a hosted app. Pika H3 Flex works best for iterating: draft at 480p or 768p, then upscale the take you like to 4K through the API, paying only the difference, per Pika’s pricing.

Local and private

Pika H3 Flex is the only one of the three with published open weights. It suits studios with GPU access that need footage to stay on their own hardware. Read the MiniMax H3 Community License first, especially the revenue threshold and the UI attribution rule. The licence also lists Excluded Territories: the European Union, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Korea and the United States. Anyone there who wants to deploy the model is told to contact MiniMax about a separate licence.

Budget

For small API tests, Pika’s launch price ($0.01/s at 480p) is the only per-second price published on any of the three vendor pages. Pika labels it a launch price, so it may change. Pika also lists 15 free H3 Flex generations a day for Pika API Club members from Oct 29 to Nov 5. For a fixed monthly cost in an app, Kling’s Standard plan starts at $6.99 for the first month.

How to try each

  • Pika H3 Flex: Pika’s H3 Flex page points to the Pika API Club at dev.pika.art for hosted use. For local use, follow the quickstart in the GitHub repo. The consumer Pika app plans (free; Starter $10/month with a commercial license) list MiniMax H3 and Seedance 2.5 among their video models but don’t name H3 Flex.
  • Seedance 2.5: in Dreamina or CapCut if your account is in a rollout region, through the BytePlus ModelArk API, or through the Pika app, which lists Seedance 2.5 at 122 credits for a 720p, 5-second clip.
  • Kling: sign up on Kling’s site, start on the free tier, then move to Standard or Pro when you need commercial use and more credits.

Planning to edit and caption your generations afterwards? CapCut is the usual finishing step. You can get CapCut here (affiliate link).
